EFT-Emotional Freedom Technique – Popular Self-Help Modality
The name Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) may sound unusual when you encounter it for the first time. However, behind these words is one of the most popular self-help techniques of today and at the same time extremely appreciated among advanced professionals.
In its foundation, EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture, except that no needles are used. Instead, two parallel processes are used in which (1) we mentally “adjust” to a specific topic while at the same time (2) we stimulate certain meridian points on the body by tapping them with the tips of the fingers. Properly implemented, The Technique of Emotional Freedom balances the irregularities in the meridian system and thus shortens considerably the multi-month and multi-year procedures of conventional therapy. In addition, the basic application is almost easy for everyone to learn. Even children with this technique achieve initial improvements. On the other hand, it is important to emphasize that the master level of EFT application is taught for years.
Our bodies have their deep electrical nature. If you touch the hot pot, you will feel the pain at the same time, because it is transmitted by the electrical signals along the nerves to the brain. Pain travels at the speed of electricity and for that reason, you feel it so quickly. Electrical messages are constantly sent through your body to know what is happening. Without this energy flow, you would not be able to see, hear, touch, taste or smell. Another obvious evidence of the existence of energy in the body is electroencephalograph (EEG) and electrocardiograph (ECG). EEG records the electrical activity of the brain, and the ECG records the electrical activity of the heart.
Our energy systems are vital to physical health. What can be more obvious? When the energy stops, we die. 5000 years ago, the Chinese discovered a complex system of energy circuits that flow through the body. These energy circuits – meridians, are central to Eastern healing practices and form the basis for modern acupuncture, acupressure, and various other healing techniques. This energy flows through the body and is invisible to the eye. By analogy, you do not see the energy that goes through the TV set. Still, you know it exists, by the effects it has. Proof that there are energies in the TV are the sounds and images you see.
In the same way, EFT gives you convincing evidence that unified energy flows through your meridians by the effects it has. By simply tapping on the end of your energy meridian, you can experience deep changes in your emotional and physical health. It is the very essence of EFT.
The basis of EFT is the combination of acupuncture and medicine of mind and body, both of which have behind them dozens of scientific researches that confirm them. Their effectiveness is so deep that prestigious institutions like Stanford and Harvard and many other universities, clinics, and hospitals have made the decision to apply and/or study them.
One of the features of EFT is that its mechanism can be presented in one sentence. It’s called “statement of discovery” and it goes: “All negative emotions are caused by a disorder in the body’s energy system.” In some circles, there is an accepted practice that during the process, the patient is asked to revive an emotionally painful event again. In contrast, EFT has ways to correct a disorder in the body’s energy system with very little or almost no emotional suffering.
Three main areas of EFT application
Solving certain emotional problems and neutralizing trauma from the past (which would inevitably be reflected on the physical level), because each trauma is based on numerous beliefs that limit us in many areas of life. EFT can eliminate any emotional intensity you do not want to have and which in any way limits you or disturb you in your everyday life.
Improve your health, remove pains that you can not otherwise resolve, as this is often the best approach to healing. EFT can eliminate the beliefs that you have adopted as a result of conditioning by your parents, peers, teachers, society, which harm you. For example. “Diabetes is a part of our family; money is the root of all evil; if you do not feel pain after 40 years of age, make sure you are still alive; it’s hard work to make money … ” Anything sounds familiar? Do you want to live the lives of those whose programs you have adopted? It would surely be better for you to have your own belief system that will benefit you.
Removing certain blockages from the road to your success. EFT can be used to achieve new goals as well as “embedding” new beautiful emotional states after removing negative ones. What is part of our belief system is reflected in our reality. In order to change anything in our lives, one has to change the way of thinking that starts from personal beliefs, that is, conviction.
By working together, one can maximize personal potential.
